World Pest Day is on Saturday, June 6, this year, marking the beginning of World Pest Month. These events remind us why pest management is important for our health, food safety, and the prevention of costly property damage.

• Spring and summer: Remove standing water, keep gutters and yard grading in good condition, trim plants away from your house, and store firewood off the ground and away from your home.
• Best practices year-round: Keep food areas clean, seal up entry points, use door sweeps and screens, wash blankets and clothing left outside, and put clothes in your suitcase in the washing machine immediately upon returning from a trip.
• For food businesses, offices, and commercial spaces: Use integrated pest management (IPM), including regular monitoring, record-keeping, staff training, and prompt action to reduce contamination and pest risks.
