Stories From the Field: Watch Out for That Dumpster!

Posted on July 26, 2010 with No Comments

Last week, one of our technicians was servicing a condo complex when he had a run in with a wildlife animal.  The tech was about to pull out of the complex after servicing a condo when he noticed a lady was struggling by the dumpster.  She could not lift her garbage bag up so the tech went over to help her. Right when the lady opened the dumpster a raccoon jumped out and darted past the two.  The lady jumped back and ended up falling down!  The tech helped her up then left the complex.  When you take out your garbage, make be alert of animals!  Rodents love to camp out in the trash so be alert if you go near a dumpster.

Stories from the Field: Don’t look up!

Posted on July 19, 2010 with 3 Comments

On Friday, one of our technicians was called out to check one of the hibachi restaurants we service.   As he crawled under one of the tables, he picked his head up and lightly banged it under the table.  Little did he know his head had hit a glue board which is used to trap mice and he ended up getting the board stuck to his head!  Instead of catching a rat, the glue board caught an exterminator! JP McHale is a Westchester Pest Control company.  We are licensed in rat extermination and would love to help you with your rat problem! Stories from the Field: SPOTTED: A SCORPION!

Posted on July 1, 2010 with No Comments

Yesterday, one of our techs reported a story was that like nothing we had ever heard before.  A customer claimed they spotted a scorpion! A church that we serve called us and told a tech that she spotted a scorpion.  We asked her numerous times “Are you sure?” and she reassured us that she killed one, but threw it out.  She said she has seen another, so we brought out techs in.  We searched the church and found no scorpion, but they are nocturnal so it’s hard to spot them in the the light.  Scorpions live down South in warm, moist areas.  They are poisonous! As the techs were inspecting the building, they notices a lot of other pests that were living there, so it is very possible that a scorpion could live their with the moisture and food.  Our techs have to go back in a few nights so STAY TUNED!

Stories from the Field: Not a Mouse but a Mole!

Posted on June 28, 2010 with No Comments

Recently, one of our techs was called out to do a termite service at one of our customers house.  Since he was already there, our customer asked him to check the rodent trap too.  When she turned on the light in the basement she screamed and said that there was something else in the trap and not a mouse.  The tech looked and said that there was a mole in it.  Once he told her she was ecstatic because she said that a mole had been eating all of her vegetable plants! JP McHale is a Westchester pest management company that can conduct an inspection for your home or building to check for rodents, simply contact us by phone 800-479-2284, email, live chat, facebook, or twitter.

Stories from the Field: AH! WHAT IS HE DOING?!

Posted on June 24, 2010 with No Comments

Yesterday, one of our techs had a very funny encounter.  Early in the morning he was called to a customers house to check for wasps nests.  The homeowner came outside and held the ladder as the tech walked up and started to inspect the bottom of the roof.  The tech was in his bee suit and mask so he would not get stung.  While he was up there, he heard a piercing scream.  Startled, he almost fell off the ladder!  The home owners daughter had just woke up and outside her window she saw our tech in his bee suit!  Who was more scared, our tech or the girl?

Stories from the Field: Your morning coffee served with a Mouse!

Posted on June 23, 2010 with No Comments

Yesterday, one of our techs was called out to a home.  He was doing a routine check on a customers home and started to check the cabinets for any pests.  He got around to the counter where the the home owners kept the bread and coffee on, and in that cabinet you won’t believe what he found.  In the very back corner of the cabinet, there was a family of mice! The tech saw about 6 baby mice and two adults.  Mice can get into the tiniest of areas, so make sure you seal the smallest of holes!  JP McHale PM knows exactly where to check for pests, unlike some homeowners that might miss an area.  If you have a mice problem feel free to contact us.
