Today The Wall Street Journal published an article that talks about the government’s approach to the growing bed bug problem in New York. The government’s previous stance on the matter was to left individuals and businesses handle it on their own, but now they feel they should step in and try to help. In April the city’s Bed Bug Advisory Board submitted a complaint to the state and the state is finally going to respond. One of the ideas brought up was to make a website dedicated to bed bug information and prevention. The website could “serve as a central clearinghouse for information for different audience”.
The state also wants to stress bed bug education to be brought up in the classrooms. Anywhere from elementary schools to colleges could be taught how to identify and prevent bed bugs. If a home has bed bugs there is a good chance the children can spread them if they do not realize that they have them. If your house or business has a bed bug problem, JP McHale can help.
