A&E’s hit show, “Billy The Exterminator“, is back for its second season of this reality show. A&E has a 20 episode season planned for this upcoming season, and it is sure to have fans very excited. The show follows Billy Bretherton, who along with his family owns and operates Vexcon, one of Louisiana’s top and busiest pest control and removal companies. The key to the show and why it has become a hit is how it mixes family life and drama with the ability of running one of the top pest control companies in Louisana. Billy, a 16 year veteran in the pest control business and former Air Force Sargent, is joined by his brother Rick, his dad Bill Sr. and his mom Donnie who holds down fort in the office.
Season two has plenty of challenges for Billy and his crew. One episode has to deal with getting a beaver out of a Summer Camp where it is causing a bunch of problems, get rid of a rattlesnake that is making its home in a funeral home, as well as trying to extract an alligator out of a family pond. The big challenge, however, seems to be when Billy and family take on the largest cockroach infestation of their careers. The hit show’s season two debut will be Wednesday, March 10th at 10:30 on A&E.
We wrote last week about an off campus apartment complex that is infested with bed bugs at Portland State University. Students that were living there found the bed bugs, then alerted management who hired a sub-par pest control company that did not treat the apartments the correct way, claiming the products would only work for one week. When the students demanded their security deposit back, the management refused. They did not pay rent and some students proceed to move out, however they were locked out of their apartments until rent was paid. PSU legal services are assisting the students in the lawsuit, but until then students are left without a place to live. Watch the video below from KGW Portland.
Well not really. As many of you may have heard, Florida is experiencing a cold front, which put temperatures into the 40’s. This has made it uncomfortable for many residents because they are used to the high 60’s. The chance of below freezing temperatures worries citrus growers. If the temperatures stay cold, the $6.5 billion dollar orange market could be wiped out for the season.
What else is happening because of the weather? Iguanas appear to be dropping dead out of trees! When the weather gets cold, Iguanas temporarily become paralyzed, and look frozen. The video below shows a 3 ½ year old girl going around her yard picking these Iguanas up and relocating them out of their yard. These reptiles feed off of many plants, especially in gardens. Check out the video below!
ABC 7 aired a very interesting story today about a Do-It-Yourselfbed bug removal trick. They clam you can get rid of bed bugs for under $20. A Rutgers professor has been studying bed bugs for many years and he believes this is the inexpensive answer. Do we have you listening yet? Hold Up….
There is a major flaw in this “solution” for bed bugs. This device that the professor made simply attracts the bed bugs to the upside down pet dish. This is not an effective way to get rid of bed bugs in your home. It is a great way to detect if bed bugs are present in a certain room. This homemade device works in the same way the NightWatch monitors work, releasing Co2 to attract bed bugs. The only proven way to get rid of bed bugs is with extreme heat or products that pest management professionals use. We see Do- It-Yourself pest removal ideas fly through our office on a daily basis, most will only temporary resolve the problem, or not do anything at all. Watch the video below and let us know what you think.
Michael Bohdan created the one and only Cockroach Hall of Fame and Museum, located in Plano, Texas. This place features many dead cockroaches, dressed up and put into “scenes.” The most popular is Liberoachi. Others include the Statue of Liberty and Ross Peroach. The YouTube video below goes more in depth about the Hall of Fame and Museum. One of the cockroaches Bohdan purchased for $1,000 because of its impressive size!
We came across this funny prank on Pest Management Professional Magazine editor’s blog “Keeping it Simple” by Pete Grasso. Please keep in mind all of this is a prank, and methods these actors use are not real.
A few nights ago on NBC, a giant cockroach escaped from the set while doing a presentation on “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.” The cockroach was found the next day on the set by a viewer. Watch the video below.
Pete Grasso, an editor over at Pest Management Professional Magazine had a contest to who could guess this bug in the video. No one could get it right, mostly for the reason because they are not found in the United States.
