Holiday Inn’s New “Bed Warming” Service Makes Us Scratch Our Heads.
Posted on January 21, 2010 with 8 Comments
Holiday Inn has announced that they are rolling out a new service in London and Manchester. The service?
Bed warmers.
Holiday Inn will send employees to your room before you get there to warm the bed up for you. This may seem a bit odd. The hotel chain says that it is easier to get to sleep when you are in a warm bed.
This is a problem. Hotel workers lying in customer beds before they come in will create a perfect environment to spread bed bugs. There is already a widespread problem in hotel rooms with spreading bed bugs. This service should be immediately discontinued, if the hotel chain wants to warm beds for customers they should install something in the bed that would automatically do the heating.

Not much to say about this but amazing!!!!
Are they really talking about sending an employee in to “snuggle” in the bed to warm it up? Surely they have some sort of electric blanket that they place on the bed?
Judging by what we have read it seems they are sending employees out. If you hear differently, please let us know.
Every article I’ve read indicates that is indeed a real human bed warmer.
What an odd idea.
That just sounds creepy to me. It would be Ok even if they sent in a dog- but not another person.
PS. Great blog
A dog is still a bit creepy, I would prefer an electrical heater of some sort. Thanks for the compliment, I read your blog and follow you on twitter as well
Yikes. Great article. I am definitely going to check into this before I stay at a Holiday Inn. Makes for some pretty fun job ads though. “looking for someone to sleep in several beds?”
I love your website, lots of good reading and content.
